Lisa Aschenbrenner, RHN
Registered Holistic Nutritionist | Neurodevelopmental & Autism Nutrition Specialist
Independent Clinician, Breakthrough ADHD Center
From the very beginning, my heart has been with neurodivergent children and their families.
Long before I had formal training, I was living it. In 2002, my own family's experience with the autism spectrum opened my eyes to something that would shape everything I do: when you understand how a neurodivergent brain is nourished or isn't, you can change the entire trajectory of a child's life. I watched it happen in my own home. Targeted changes in diet and supplementation brought real, life-changing improvements. That wasn't luck. That was biology. And I needed to understand it deeply. So I did.
I trained as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN), where I later returned as an instructor, because I wanted to pass on what I had learned to the next generation of practitioners. I pursued advanced training in BioIndividual Nutrition through the BioIndividual Nutrition Institute, a framework built specifically for complex neurodevelopmental presentations, and continued deepening my understanding through Nourishing Hope and autism-focused biomedical conferences including MedMAPS in the United States. Every step of that training was chosen with one focus in mind: how do I better serve neurodivergent children and the families who love them?
Over two decades, that focus has never shifted.
I have supported children and families navigating the day-to-day challenges that sit just beneath the surface of an ADHD or ASD diagnosis, the gut issues, the sleep disruption, the mood dysregulation, the sensory-driven eating patterns that make mealtimes a battleground. These are not minor inconveniences. For neurodivergent children, they are often central to why everything else feels so hard. And they are almost always addressable through thoughtful, individualized nutritional support. As an independent clinician at Breakthrough ADHD Center, I bring over twenty years of focused experience to every family I work with. I know how exhausted and overwhelmed this journey can feel. I know how much conflicting information is out there. And I know that what families need is not another overwhelming protocol, they need a clear, compassionate guide who understands their child's specific neurodivergent profile and can help them take focused, realistic steps forward.
I have shared what I've learned through parent conferences, public talks, workshops, cooking classes, and nutritional training materials, because families navigating neurodivergence deserve to be informed, empowered, and never, ever made to feel alone..
