Registered Clinical Counsellor | Occupational Therapist | Gifted & Twice-Exceptional Specialist . Independent Clinician, Breakthrough ADHD Center
Hi there, I'm Alex. I'm a dual-licensed Registered Clinical Counsellor and Occupational Therapist, and I specialize in something most clinicians rarely see clearly: gifted children, and what happens when their extraordinary minds come wrapped in profound challenge.
I bring something personal to this work. I have lived experience as a gifted person with neurodiverse traits myself. I know what it feels like to think in ways that don't fit the systems around you, to be simultaneously ahead of the curve and quietly struggling behind it. That lived understanding is not something you can learn in a textbook, and it shapes everything about how I show up for the children and families I work with.
Gifted children are so often misread. Their verbal ability, insight, or academic performance can fool even experienced clinicians into missing what is happening underneath, the anxiety, the sensory overwhelm, the executive dysfunction, the emotional intensity that comes with a mind that never really switches off. These children don't need a generalist. They need someone who understands the specific, nuanced, and sometimes paradoxical profile of giftedness, especially when it coexists with ADHD or ASD in what we call a twice-exceptional, or 2E, presentation.
That is my world.
My training spans Occupational Therapy and Counselling Psychology — a combination that allows me to address the sensory, functional, and emotional dimensions of a gifted child's experience together, because in these children they are never separate. I have worked across pediatric outpatient clinics, hospitals, public schools, and specialty settings, and I bring significant experience consulting with educational teams, writing IEP goals, and building plans that connect what happens in the clinic with what happens in the classroom.
As an independent clinician at Breakthrough ADHD Center, I work with gifted and twice-exceptional children and teens, their parents, and their families, helping each child's strengths become the foundation for real, lasting growth. I am a RASP-certified autism provider in BC, and I specialize in the complex intersection of giftedness, ADHD, ASD, sensory processing differences, and executive dysfunction.
You see your child's brilliance. I see it too, and I also know how to help them carry it
My clinical toolbox includes:
- Occupational Therapy for gifted & 2E profiles
- DIR/Floortime — certified (autism & developmental support)
- Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

- Neurodiversity-affirming practice (ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, OCD, 2E)

I am proud to work alongside the multidisciplinary team at Breakthrough ADHD Center, where every clinician brings deep, specialized expertise, and where we collaborate closely so that your gifted child receives care as nuanced and layered as they are.
